5 Reasons Why We Love The Oil

It might seem like smothering your skin in oil could be the worst beauty advice ever, but hear us out. A great facial oil can work wonders for your complexion without causing clogged pores, a million breakouts or a face like an oil slick! Here are 5 great reasons to add The oil in your routine.

 1. The Oil is amazing for dry skin

If your skin is dryer than the Sahara, including a face oil in your routine can work wonders. Oils can be a more effective and natural way to deliver a hit of nourishment to the skin than commercial moisturizers. Organic avocado oil is packed with vitamin E, potassium and lecithin, all skin-feeding nutrients.  Although the oil has a thicker consistency, these nutrients are easily absorbed through the outermost layer of the skin - the epidermis - and travel all the way down to the dermis - the inner layer of skin. Here in the dermis these nutrients are a source of energy for the growth of healthy new cells and also strengthen existing cells.

2. Provide protection from free radical damage

Oils are lipophilic so they have two superpowers, they trap moisture and vitamins in the skin while keeping toxins out. By creating a barrier between your skin and everything else around you, face oil protects your complexion from the damage of free radicals. This is especially important if you live in the city…...hello wrinkle causing smog and pollution! Sunflower oil in particular is rich in vitamins A, C and D and healthy carotenoids. These form a protective barrier on the skin, helping fight off free radical damage. It also contains oleic acid, a monounsaturated omega 9 fatty acid which helps keep skin keep soft, supple and radiant.

3. Reduce wrinkles

Some oils have earned a reputation for doing a great job in slowing down the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Rosehip oil is an especially amazing anti aging oil. The vitamin C in Rosehip oil, stimulates healthy skin cell production and powers up fibroblasts. Fibroblasts are responsible for creating collagen and  increasing firmness of skin, helping reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles we all want to avoid.

4. Ease the symptoms of skin conditions

If you’re troubled by skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, oils can be an ideal natural option to soothe some of the symptoms. Baobab oil is one to consider, it’s incredibly nourishing for damaged skin; it’s an excellent source of essential and other fatty acids including Omega-6 and Omega 3. It’s also teeming with vitamin A and E, which are some of the most effective vitamins to nourish troubled and inflamed skin.

5. The Oil can help balance oily skin

If you’d got oily skin, it’s understandable to think putting MORE oil on your face is literally the worst thing you could do. In fact, oil can actually help balance out the overproduction of sebum and improve the look of oily skin. If you’ve got oily skin and have been skipping the moisturising step, you skin will actually create more oil to compensate for the loss of moisturise. Oil attracts oil and can dissolve excess sebum, dirt and makeup without leaving your skin stripped of its natural oils.
